What can I do or which classes do I need to take to get into Cal Poly SLO? Extra-curriculars?

Read my two posts in the topic titled something like confused by the MCA. They outline his to get the best score possible. First and foremost, are the best GPA and test scores that you can muster. Good luck.

For CPSLO, along with high marks and strong test scores, you’ll have a better chance if you transfer to Tom Hayden High school (which funnels kids into CPSLO), have you mom or dad get a job at CalPoly. Make sure mom and dad burn their HS dipolmas, write down a bunch of work (21 per week) and EC hours (another 21 per week)–doesn’t matter what you do just that you do allot of it, take a bunch of APs (ie get really good at route memorization and filling out the scan-tron bubbles) In all seriousness, non-accedemic, demographic indictors, which are totally out of your control, play a part in CPSLO admissions decisions.

For college in general, Get good grades, challenge yourself, become involved in actities you like (sports, music, etc) Pursue those activites outside of school. Write a couple of good essays. Have a teacher or two review your essays. Apply early to selection of schools (9-18) which interest you. And hope the dice roll in your favor…
