What can I do to get into Vanderbilt?

Hi everyone,
I just started my junior year in high school, and I was wondering if there is anything extra I could do to improve my chances of getting into Vanderbilt, U Penn, or other elite schools such as these. I have an unweighted 4.0 gpa and am EXTREMELY involved in orchestra, but not much else. The AP classes I've taken/am taking are: world history, US history, calculus AB, physics, and English language & composition. I'm also a member of national honor society, beta club, and music honor society...I plan on joining more clubs this year. I have not yet taken the SAT. Is this enough? Am I headed in the right direction? Do I even have a chance? Any help is much appreciated...thank you!

I don’t normally do chances…but here is my suggestion. Do not join MORE clubs. More isn’t necessarily better. A deep commitment to a couple of things is far more beneficial than a laundry list of clubs just for the sake of having a laundry list. Try to become a leader in what you already do.

Your SAT score will be a key ingredient to this speculation. The higher the better, and especially the CR and Math sections.

On your other thread you are inquiring about scholarships? Do you have financial need or is your family just unable to contribute their expected contribution? There is a difference.

Colleges look at quality over quantity. It is better to not spread yourself too thin. Do what you are passionate in and you will be fine. I would focus on the SAT and ACT. Junior year can be tough and it is important to stay focused.
