What can I do to higher my chances of getting into... (currently a HS sophomore!)

So I’m currently a high school sophomore and was a bit curious to see what colleges I’ll be able to get into with my scores/what I’m doing currently and what I can do to higher my chances to the following colleges:

  1. University of Georgia
  2. Emory
  3. Vanderbilt (it's a long shot, but hey)

My GPA is currently a 4.0 (maybe even higher because I take AP classes?) and I am ranked 4th out of my class of 500+ students.

I took AP Human Geography freshman year and only scored a 3 on the AP exam (they lost our essay :(…) and all of my classes were honors level. This year I am taking 2 AP classes (Biology and World History) which I had A’s in last semester.

As for PSAT scores, my highest scores were 1310 and 1340 (on the new SAT of course, which is ranked out of 1600).

I was on the volleyball team last year and I also play an instrument in the highest orchestra class, which is usually only offered to upperclassmen.

I am also in various clubs, which include:
-Beta Club
-Student Council
-Key Club
-Tri-M Music Honor Society
-Relay For Life
-Student Leadership Team

*I plan to run for executive position in either Beta, Tri-M, or Key Club.

I also regularly volunteer at my church, soup kitchens, and local co-ops.

I don’t know if this matters, but I got 2nd place in the regional science fair in 6th grade, participated in this Duke program in elementary school, and made it to the school wide spelling bee in middle school.

Can someone please tell me my chances of any of the listed colleges (or recommend me any?) or anything that I can do to improve my chances? Thank you so much!

I think you have a good chance, if your scores stay the same/rise.

You’re in good shape. And your GPA/Rank are great. Do some kind of internship or activities relating to your interest over the summer. It’ll look good on college app. Most importantly, try your best get even a higher score, even though your current score is already good. You do have a good chance. Keep up the good work!

Keep that GPA, score as best you can on the SAT/ACT, take as challenging of classes as you can handle, and try to get active and do extracurriculars that you enjoy.

Yea this does not matter at all lol, do not mention them on your application.

Awesome. If you can keep it up, I think you have a good chance for Vanderbilt too.
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19209443#Comment_19209443

I’ve also been playing piano for 11 years now and receive superiors on many festivals/evaluations that I’ve participated in. Is that something I should mention?
