Thanks! @theaterwork
I can’t tell you about Ohio Northern, but as a parent of a sophomore (BFA Acting), I can tell you a little about Otterbein. It’s a small program, low acceptance rate, national student body in the theatre dept., though Ohio is well represented, great teaching and support structure, acting and MT overlap to some extent, most of the acting students study dancing and singing (with private lessons) and dancing, everyone auditions for everything, the campus is small but lovely, as is the town (a stone’s through from Columbus), the broader school community is justifiably proud of its theatre program, tuition is fairly low, aid (academic and merit) is good, senior spring semester is spent at internships around the country, grads appear to be finding a variety of work on stage, film and tv – most recently, a 2016 grad was cast in the Broadway production of Phantom (Raoul). Most important (for me), my daughter is loving it and learning a lot.
My son is a freshmen at Otterbein in the BFA acting program. He absolutely loves the program so far. He had a lot of BFA acceptances (Pace, Fordham, Syracuse, Ithaca, etc.) and he chose Otterbein after a campus visit because of the faculty. The faculty are very engaged with the students and the general vibe is very supportive. The structure of the curriculum was very appealing to my son, the internship in your senior year is brilliant in my mind and it was very affordable for us based on scholarships compared to other schools. I saw the production of the Addams Family this past weekend and was quite struck by the talent level. I am happy to connect you to my son or answer specific questions you might have if you want to PM me. The families on this board are amazing resources also when it comes to Otterbein.
Thanks @VaTheatreMom that is the info I am looking for. My d will be auditioning for them.
