I've been accepted into several schools as a Biomedical Engineering major. I really like the BME field and would like to get a graduate degree and then work as a research scientist one day. I'm just wondering what other jobs are available with a BME major. I'm not too interested in designing stuff like prosthetics but I would love to work with artificial organs, nanotechnology, etc. Would a chemical/biological/electrical engineering major better fit the market if my decision to be research scientist changed?

Also, I've taken a lot of APs and was wondering how "general" my first year classes would be. I've taken physics, chemistry, biology, calculus AB, and calculus BC. I've also taken government, history (us and world), and english (lang and lit). With most of the first year classes out of the way, how important will my major be my freshman year. Like if I enter as a freshman and start taking a ton of BME classes and then decide to switch to ME or EE, would the classes I've taken still be useful?

**Also I know things like law school and med school are always options, but im not sure how much I am looking to do either of those.
