I’m a sophomore choosing my classes for Junior Year right now. The max classes I can take a semester are 8 and we have a block system. I’ve narrowed it down to a few classes that I’m really interested in but I know I can’t handle them all at the same time. Here is my list.
Classes I’m definitely taking: | Classes I’m considering
Honors Advanced Precalculus | AP Chem
Honors US History | Honors Language and Composition or Normal English Class
Hon Biology | Honors Comparative Politics (Semester 2)
French 3 | Test Prep (Semester 1)
Journalism (Semester 1) | Neuropsychology (Semester 2)
Mandatory College Prep Class
Notes: Honors Advance Precalc and Honors US History are the two hardest classes on my Definitely list. I’m not sure but I assume AP Chem and the two Honors classes on my Considering list are pretty hard too. Also, (with the exception of Honors Bio and Honors Advanced Precalc) all classes labeled Honors are meant (but not designed if that makes sense) to prepare you for the AP exam. Lastly, Neuropsych is an online class.
As you can see, I quite literally cannot pack all of this into my 8-block schedule (even though I really want to and I’m genuinely interested in all of these classes)! My three favorite subjects are Math, English, and History (but I have a sweet spot for science). Some of these classes are intense so I’ve made certain rules. If I do AP Chem, I can’t take Honors Lang & Comp nor can I take Neuropsych. If I take Lang and Comp, I can’t take AP Chem. From the looks of it, Test Prep isn’t really at the top of my priorities and I’d probably just get it outside of school if necessary.
To complicate matters, I’m getting an internship next year at a local university. I’m really interested in it but I’m starting to question whether it’s worth the time commitment.
I know I’m asking you all to help with a decision that should be purely mine but I just can’t and if you don’t know how to answer, it would be great if anyone could just share general advice on planning your schedule for Junior year.
