I have to make the decision in terms of senior year classes. I've already taken APWH, then this year I'm taking AP Calc AB, Bio, Gov, English Comp and non-AP Mandarin I and II. Next year I'll be taking APUSH, Calc BC, English Lit, and Mandarin III. My school offers seniors the choice to not take a science and take an elective in senior year. I might decide to apply to a school more geared to science (Cooper union maybe, or Cornell Ag life). I also am considering Queens Honors (full scholarship is possible), and U of Chicago (in the hopes that they'd give me money). I already take loads of other difficult Jewish classes, so I get out daily at 6 with Sunday school. I have a 97 average, and a 2270 sat (800w/760r/710m and I have one more shot to raise it). I should probably take AP physics. However, it's 2 periods a day, and being a senior and all I'm not so excited for that. Personally I'd much rather not take a science or take AP Computers, AP Psych, or Regents Physics and get out earlier with less work. What should I do?

Many highly selective colleges require four full years of science (three of them being lab sciences), math, english and history and 3-4 years of foreign language (depending on the college). Since you are considering schools geared more towards science, understand that an admissions rep is going to be comparing your list to other students’… I do agree that taking a double-period of AP Physics on top of your proposed list for senior year would be too much. What science classes did you take freshman and sophomore year? If they were lab sciences (e.g…, bio, chem, physics) – then my recommendation would be – does your school offer AP Environmental Science? It counts as a science but not a lab science. It is a tough class in terms of the amount of reading (similar to AP Bio) but kids who can memorize and comprehend easily tend to do well in it. That would give you a single-period science and your senior year is balanced but isn’t too rigorous.

I took Bio and Chem. How about this for my last 3 periods- Regents Physics, AP Computer Science, and Mandarin III?
