What classes to not take

I think it would be very helpful for the upcoming freshman to know what are some hard courses that might not be worht taking such as chem 216 for a premed student.

If you do not want a low grade on your transcript than do not take BioG101 with Professor Owens. It is the second hardest course in cornell according to Professor Owens.

HAH! BioG101 will pwn you!

Thats what they all say at least...

what is the first hardest course?

The mean of Bio101 is curved to a B- but at least they curve one std. dev. ahead of the mean to a A-. The mean of Chem 357 (orgo) is curved to a B- this year but one std. dev. ahead of the mean is only a B+ so I would vote organic chem (under Dr. Ruttledge) as more difficult. I've taken both and even if the curves were the same, organic chem is much harder and time intensive than Bio 101. However, premeds have to take both so there's no avoiding them.

no doubt about ruttleledge. i was getting an A- going into the final, got a little above the mean on the final, so it got bumped down to a B+ even though I was still ahead of the damn curve (I know i was getting an A- because I was transferring to humec and had to get mid-grade reports right after thanksgiving break). i was getting a B going into the final for Bio, got 1 std above on the final, and got B+. gotta step it up a notch for both their second semester classes for me.

class to avoid: philosophical puzzles (PHIL 201) - sounds interesting, but not for the normal lay person. unless you've taken logic at cornell, you'll get lost. it was interesting for the first 10 minutes in every class, then got too technical for me to understand.
