What college are you OBSESSED with?

Of course, rule #1 is to not become one school oriented, but that doesn't stop us...

So my question is...
What college are you obsessed with, and why?

Mine is American University

I live in rural Ohio, I want to go to Washington DC!

AU still has a campus

The academics seem like they are great, and would be on par with my standards

I want a politically active student body!

I love the campus

I can't find anything I DON'T like hehe :)

Okay, your turn!

Brown!!

City lifestyle (It's not New York but it beats the LA suburbs!)

Brown doesn't have the typical campus. It's integrated into the city!

The open curriculum (I like to experiment, and would rather not waste time learning things I don't like)

A politically active student body

An hour from Boston

Right along the Northeast Corridor (I'm obsessed with trains!)

The kids there are passionate as holy hell.

I'm obsessed with Pomona.
Gorgeous weather, small but with consortium, liberal-artsy, excellent English department, near relatives but far from home, near LA, and full of quirky, liberal students. It's got everything I'm looking for.

DUKE
-3 sport athlete, so Duke basketball is appealing
-big fraternity life
-people there are really smart, but also know how to have fun
-beatiful campus
-want to experience something outside of LA
-pre-med program
-girls there are pretty good compared to other top-tiers
-not a very competitive environment
-my friend is going to Wake, so that is only an hour away
-It really is perfect for me. The intellectual stimulation along with a vibrant social scene.

THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS

-Fantastic athletics
-BEAUTIFUL campus
-Large, liberal student body
-Excellent academics
-Not TOO far from home, but far enough
-Located in an AMAZING college town
-I know a few people that go there
-In-state tuition ftw
-Have you SEEN the guys that go there? XD
-My parents really want me to go there
-Good medical school, should I choose to go there eventually
-Local music scene = fantastic

The only thing I don't like is the weather. But it's the Midwest, so I can't escape it.

Dukeeeeeee

Will all of you be applying early to these schools, even if it means ED?

But I can't figure it out.

What does ED mean?

You're serious, right? ED = Early Decision. For the purposes of this discussion, not Erectile Dysfunction. :-)

Oooh, okay.

Thanks. Lol. I'm still kind of getting used to the shortened terms of this forum. Took me forever to figure out what S and D meant. xD

"Took me forever to figure out what S and D meant"

Me too :(, I even googled it.

Hey Anagram, don't mean to knock your hopes but Pomona is not at all near LA. I don't drive, but I believe it's a good 30 minutes without traffic and can be a good hour and 30 minutes with. I believe it's 15 miles away, but the Metro's working on bringing a train line in the area. But nothing too soon.

Okay, good to know. LA really isn't that big of a factor to me, anyway.
And I'm not applying ED because financial aid is a factor and Pomona doesn't give merit aid.

I'm also obsessed with Pomona.

But not too much :P

Intend to major in Economics, and Minor in Asian Studies (pref China, or India but will settle for Japan - don't get me wrong, beautiful art and rich history - but for contemporary purposes the business environment is saturated)
Additionally - if offered : Minor/Double major in Marketing, Finance, or Psychology.

Schools: (In order)
Yale
Wesleyan
Quinnipiac
Fairfield University

That's actually one of the reasons I like CMC even more is that it isn't super close to LA. I like being close enough to have access to cool things, but am glad not to be in the city at all. I love the area of the Claremont schools

but anyways, my favorites (they're so different, but they're truly tied for 1st haha) are:
UNC!! [I find out admissiond decision in 3.5 hours. ohmygosh]
and CMC

OH CRAP! Obsessed with...

Dartmouth
Wesleyan

How did this happen?! Crap, now I have to work really really hard on the SATs.

Anyone else worried about their hopes being crushed? Lol.

I'm worried too. That 20% acceptance rate is more than a little scary.

Cal Berkeley, Princeton

Obstinate and Anagram, I live in Claremont. We're about 40 miles from LA, but there's a train (the Metrolink) just south of campus that goes to downtown LA. It's been operating for a long time. Very few people live near LA. Most people live 30 to 40 miles away. Claremont is also near the highway that goes to Anaheim, San Diego, and Pasadena. It's really a great place to live because everything is accessible but you're not living in LA. Besides, it's like 10 minutes from the Ontario airport, which is tons better than LAX (which is a nightmare!)
