I'm at University of Rochester. UR wasn't ever my first choice, but it ended up being where I went, since I didn't really apply to too many schools in high school, and it ended up being the best place for chemical engineering and closer to home (like and hour and a half).
Rochester has been ok, but it's not great; like you always hear about a ton of people LOVING to go back to school, and then I kind of dread it. It's hard since I fell in with the wrong group of people freshman year. So now, it's so hard to meet new people and if you want to go out and party (which I am a fan of), I always have to call a million other people.
Anyway, since having an internship out in Chicago this past summer, I fell in love with the city. Plus, I had a friend in the program that goes to Northwestern. We went up there a few times to hang out and it just seemed perfect; great engineering, larger size, gorgeous.
So it's the only place I applied to, and I have no idea what my chances are since it's mid-year, I'm already a junior, and while my gpa is definitely good for a ChemE (I'm ranked pretty high in my ChemE class), the gpa isn't a match for non-engineering kids.
Who knows, though. Worth a shot I guess.

Currently attending a super small LAC in maryland. Transferring because it's wayyy too expensive, not academic enough (a girl in my bio class didn't know where the grand canyon is... I have other such examples), too easy in general, and too far from home to really make it worth it.

Hoping to transfer to Rutgers New Brunswick or Camden... hopefully not Camden though. Nice school, horrible location.

ucla (out of state) electrical engi.

want to transfer since i cant change my residency......
want to transfer to
columbia cornell cooper union

I'm currently attending New York University (NYU), and applying to Cornell.

i attend rutgers new brunswick and want to trasfer to upenn, which seriously is a long shot.

I'm currently attending the University of Michigan - Dearborn

I wanna transfer cause... I really hate it here, and I beilieve that I could do better.. Also theres that prestige issue.

Oh yeah, Im looking to transfer to the University of Michigan -Ann Arbor.

Currently @ Columbia
Will apply for transfer to Yale
complex reasons

attending skidmore college...want to transfer to usc..i think the school culture suits me more

attending small university in NJ, applied to: NYU (rejected), Syracuse, and BU.

I want more diverse and urban environment. I'm sick of suburbs and I want to go to a school that I can tell people without feeling embarrassed.

i currently go to tufts. i applied to transfer nyu because i've never been so bored.

I go to UT-Austin, and although the people are pretty cool and the weather is great, it's not really good for finance-related stuff. This year, I figured out that I really want to work in finance, and major in something more finance/math/econ related (UT is ok at math and finance, but it's econ is definitely lacking).

Right now, I'm applying to (and hopefully get into one):
Penn (Wharton)
Harvard
Columbia
Stanford

i go to the Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta and want to transfer because i am not feeling stimulated academically, artistically, intellectually, or socially; i decided art school is not for me, i want a more well-rounded education, and to be around more well-rounded people; i want to live on a pretty campus, not by the interstate; i have no friends; i am making straight A's without too much effort; the school is veryy commercial/design based, not so much fine arts focused, i am majoring in painting; i want to study anthropology and philosophy and lots and lots of things in addition to studio art; there isn't a strong sense of community; and blah blah blahhhh the list goes on (this is just my personal experience, plenty of people are happy here!).
i am looking into WesleyanU, Oberlin, Vassar, Connecticut C, Hampshire, Skidmore, Sarah Lawrence, other schools like these (any suggestions???), annd UGA

perhaps bard?

Myrmidon73-
I go to UT as well. I am a Bio major. I have many reasons why i want to leave. Not that UT is a bad school, just not for me. I love the people here and Austin is great, but i really want to be in a more challenging environment and different climate. Johns Hopkins is my top choice. I am going to study Bio/ Neuro if i get in which i HOPE I DO.

other schools on list-
Brown
Chicago
WashU
Emory
Northwestern
Columbia ( yeaaaaaaah right! )

JHU is my dream.

JHU and Brown are my TOP actually...

BUT I KNOW there is no way in hell i will get into Brown with its 3% acceptance rate.

California community college --> UC Berkeley-California!!
Because it's the best univeristy!!!

I'm also at a California Community college. In my opinion, there are alot of relatively unmotived students here, at least compared to top schools. Good thing is this allows those of us who are very highly motivated to interact with the teachers regularly. Dream school is Stanford. Does anyone know any former CCC students who were accepted to Stanford or the Ivies? I'm also applying to UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, and USC.

I was at BU for almost a semester. Applied EDI last year. I absolutely hated it.

Academics: I applied to the College of General Studies (CGS). Two years of liberal artsy stuff. Hated 90% of the stuff we learned/talked about. Really disliked the program. The most ridiculous issue, was concerning the 'teams'. Teams were A-H and each team had a certain amount of kids and each letter was coupled with another to form classes with specific teachers. Well, it turned out that some teams were MUCH easier than others. I ended up with the hardest with the most difficult science class and teacher. Complete joke.

Grade Deflation: It exists. Most people I know (including me) didn't do very well. Averages for tests would be in 40s-50s some of the time.

Social Life: My floor and RA were great, but I really disliked the majority of the kids. Same kinda thing at Miami/GW/Tulane Wealthy, extremely sheltered and snobby kids. People had no interests outside of partying. Not very friendly. Social life revolved around partying 5 days a week which isnt me at all. Sports and school spirit were lame. No one cared about basketball, no football team. Hockey team is awful this year, but I still went to all the games. 95% of the kids at the games didnt care or cheer. Intramural program was run horribly.

Tution: $50K a year. Luckily, money isnt an issue for me, but I felt like $50K a year was not worth it for the education at BU. After $100K, it was possible I wouldnt even get into the school I wanted (CGS-->SMG for business). Total waste.

I'm starting at Temple University in January. Majoring in sports management with a minor in business administration. I thought about doing SM for a long time and ended up at BU, where there is no SM major.

Temple is half an hour from home (go home whenever), very well respected for SM and business, great internship opportunities, can go to sports games whenever I want (Phillies and Eagles tix are no problem--Pats and Sox? Forget it.), an actual basketball team that people care about, plus a football team (hey, 4 wins is pretty good for the former laughing stock of a program) and lastly, what I assume is a more diverse, less affluent student body.

Ultimately, I dont think a degree from $50K a year BU would benefit that much more compared to $18K a year Temple.

transferring out of a PSU branch campus because it's incredibly dull in every way imaginable. no student is motivated, forget ambitious. no student can think critically, forget creatively. PSU has horrible programs for what i'm interested in (liberal arts curriculum). all anyone at PSU wants to do is party, go to football games, party some more, and get their degree with a just-passing gpa so they can type up documents in a corporate box for the rest of their lives.

i'm applying to swarthmore, bryn mawr, wellesley, smith, haverford, franklin and marshall, and maybe a few other small and academically intense liberal arts colleges.

^^^ Nice list of schools. Which branch are you at? I know some good people at branches because it's getting insane to get into PSU, even with our instate.
