- a university in an URBAN setting
- a beautiful green campus
- a lake, canyon, or creek

That seems like a bit of an oxymoron. It's a little tough to have a very urban campus that is still very green with lots of nature like a canyon or creek.

Anyway, Vanderbilt University is located in Nashville, just a few minutes' drive from Downtown, in a cute restaurant and shopping district. The Mississippi River runs through the city (again, just a minute's drive), and it offers boat tours, fishing, etc. The campus itself is an amazingly beautiful oasis, completely seperate from the urban sprawl. It is actually a national arboretum, and every tree that naturally grows in the state of Tennessee can be found somewhere on the campus.

I know you put urban in all caps, but if you reconsider it, Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, is INCREDIBLY beautiful, and has a river and it's own ski mountain. It is quite rural, though, and located in a town only a few blocks long, although it contains pretty much everything you'd need--a few bars, restaurants, drug store, markets, movie theatres, etc. The college also sponsers bus trips to Boston, New York, and even Canada on some weekends.

Brown University is near the ocean in Providence, RI. It is located just moments from Providence itself and is actually seperated from it by a beautiful river. The campus itself is quite beautiful, with lots of trees and brick buildings.

And lastly, the University of Richmond, although not actually located in Downtown Richmond, has a lake ON CAMPUS. It has, far and away, the most incredible and beautiful campus I have ever seen. It's a bit of a hike to the downtown area, but it might be worth it to be surrounded by such breathtaking natural beauty.
