I’ve been compiling a list of colleges I might want to apply to but am pretty lost.
4.5-ish weighted GPA and a 3.8-ish unweighted.
SAT: 1580/1600
I am worried about receiving financial aid.
I live in New Jersey but I’d prefer to not stay too close to home.
I don’t really have a preference for big or small schools but schools like Swarthmore are a little too small.
I’ve taken/taking 7 APs, play violin (Regional, All-State, all-Eastern), am president of a non-profit that plays music for senior citizens, president of the Altar group at church, vice president of the Education Foundation, and a first-degree black belt in Taekwondo. I’m not completely sure what I want to study but am leaning towards Neuroscience or Screenwriting.
This isn’t meant to be a brag sheet but I really need some advice on what types of colleges might fit my interests and still present a challenge.
Can you give more detail? Regional preference? Liberal, conservative, sporty, preppy, Greek life, research Uni or LAC, do you need merit aid, etc… What colleges do you already have on your list?
Your grades and test score mean that there are a lot of schools that will give you merit aid. If you want, you can probably get full tuition at some colleges.
@Lindagaf I’m hoping for somewhere West Coast or warm b/c the weather tends to affect my focus, i don’t care about the political climate or Greek Life, and hope for a LAC
Stanford is at the top of my list right now but if I were to be realistic, that’s more than a reach, which is why I’m looking into other schools.
@Lindagaf I know that the Ivies wil meet financial aid for me but I’m not sure about other schools because my parents together make close to six figures
