well, with college decisions finally in, i'm now trying to decide on which college i want to attend. this choice, though, seems even harder to make than that of to which colleges i wanted to apply! i was waitlisted at columbia (where i really want to go), dartmouth, and wash U., and accepted at williams, UVA (as an Echols Scholar - priority registration all 4 years, no distribution requirements, other perks), berkeley, tufts, pomona, and a few others.

a prospective philosophy major looking to go to law school after i get my undergrad degree, i want a school that will help me to get ahead in this regard. i want a school where i will be comfortable in an engaging social scene with a wide range of girls (and guys, but for them just as friends, heh...) to meet. i'd like a school where i can have some sort of actual relationship with my professors, professors that really love to teach, and for most of my classes, actually do teach. i want to get away from my home (Los Angeles), as well as the weather that comes with it, if only just for a change of pace and in order to know that i really do want to come back to southern california when my formal education is done.

so, looking at williams and UVA (as well as Columbia, which i know i'd love), is there any way i'm supposed to make an objective decision? i'm planning on visiting the schools in a week or two because i want to get a feel for each, and i think this will help me more than anything to figure out where i will be happy. i'd love input from the members here, though, on what they think about how to handle the situation with these schools (especially from those familiar with them), and where a waitlisted Columbia lover would be least unhappy, besides Columbia. :)

thanks a ton for any input, and for humoring me...
