@early_college: She wants to go because it’s a “Christian School.” That’s it. She’s Baptist, she’s gone to “college for a weekend”, its easy as hell to get into, and she thinks it’s perfect.

In reality, I know she knows nothing about Liberty. She doesn’t know the mass number of students that go there, the quality of their academics (generally rather poor), she doesn’t know that 45% of their students take 6 years to graduate.

She doesn’t know about their endless list of “reprimands” and fines nor that they restrict every privilege of your private life (including and especially romantic relationships, of which she has had for 2.5 years) and that tons of students lose their faith because the school is so ludicrous.

She doesn’t know, and she’s been so *****y about the whole college topic that I’m not going to tell her. Call me a bad friend. But I’ve known this girl since preschool, and never has she ever learned anything other than the hard way.

If I tried to tell her these things about Liberty, she’d call me stupid and pitch a fit. So I’m not going to. Disservice to our “friendship” or not, I’m not one who knowingly propels myself into an impossible situation. And her attitude is one of those situations.

If this was me, and if I was a devout Christian, I would still toss Liberty from my list. I’ve done my research (though I never intended on adding it to my list; I researched it to learn of its true reputation after hearing some rumors), and Liberty is a college I will definitely do my best to stay away from. I respect all forms of religion, from Christianity to Islam, but I do not respect close-mindedness in any form.

And from all I have gathered about Liberty, that’s all that exists there.

Again, no offense to any students of Liberty or other Christians, but I just can’t respect an institution like that.
