Current freshman here in highschool, I am doing horribly GPA-wise and in grades. At this point, getting into colleges that look at freshman grades is going to be a difficult option. What colleges don’t directly look at your freshman year to affect your chances of getting in?
My parents really want me to get into a good college, but my grades right now say otherwise.
Thank you!
Your freshmen year is not even over yet. Colleges know how rough the first semester of freshmen year is so they will forgive you. You can still get into any school in the world. You still have this semester to pull your grades up! Colleges want to see an upward trend.
Some colleges like the UCs and CSUs will not count freshmen year into your GPA. The schools that do will not really care about your freshmen year grades.
Besides the top schools, I doubt most colleges care THAT much about freshman first semester grades.
What’s your GPA? (I’ve seen people on CC say a 3.7 is horrible).
At one time Princeton didn’t use freshman year grades. I’m not sure that’s still true.
Princeton does consider freshman grades.
