What colleges should I apply to?

Hello, I'm a junior but already thinking a lot about college.
ACT- Currently 26, but plan on raising to at least a 31.
SAT- haven't taken yet.
GPA- 3.95
Class rank- Top 5
(I'm not going to go on listing my stats because this isn't a chance thread.)

I live in Missouri and plan on staying at least within the Midwest area.

One college in particular I have in mind is Missouri University of S & T. They have a great science department. They have Greek life which is important. As clich

MUST is a solid program. One of the students who graduated from MUST undergrad last decade just became a Harvard Professor Astronomy this year.

UMissouri-Columbia is also a solid flagship public university. You should definitely apply as a financial safety.

The best private university in Missouri is Washington University in St. Louis.

Other private schools to consider: Vanderbilt in neighboring Tennessee, U. Notre Dame in Indiana, Case Western in Ohio.

Thank you for your input, Harvardandberkeley!
I plan on majoring in physics and I hear MUST’s physics program is solid.

I will apply to UM-Columbia, but I cannot apply for financial aid as my families income is $150,000+ a year, both are Drury legacies, etc. Scholarships would be helpful if I got in here.

I’ve heard Washington University is good too, but their Greek life is lacking which, against my mother’s wishes, is important to me.

I haven’t looked into the other schools you listed, I will check them out. Thanks again!

If your interest is physics, then you should DEFINITELY apply to Washington University (despite not having as strong of a Greek scene).

Also check out Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and Rice University in Houston (not sure if that is too far south for you). UMichigan has amazing physics and an amazing Greek scene. Same with University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and University of Wisconsin at Madison.

I hadn’t thought too much about Northwestern! I last toured colleges in Illinois summer before my freshman year. You have some nice suggestions, thank you!

How much is your family able and willing to pay for your college each year?

Cost of attendance for Missouri University of Science and Technology and University of Missouri appear to be similar ($23,000 to $24,000 per year for Missouri residents), so wouldn’t affordability (or not) of these two schools be similar?

I guess you are right about the tuition, they are similar, even if you do add on sorority housing costs. I will keep looking into it and will definitely apply to both.

I am not sure how much my parents are willing to pay, but will be most happy if I stay instate or get scholarships for out of state schools.
