What colleges should i apply to?

i have a 3.0 GPA and a SAT score of 2280 i don't know what colleges to apply to becasue of the gap in my GPA and SAT score. Suggestions?

i live in massachusetts and want to stay around the east coast.

dog- why the **** did you try to jack my name?

This thread is like saying "I want to buy a car, I have $20K, what should I get?" Just saying GPA and SATs is a fraction of how you make college decisions. Why don't you see what your interests are, research yourself, then get back to us and see what you come up with. Think of things like:

Size
Location
Male/Female Ratio
Special Programs
Housing
Athletics
Majors

To name a few...

i want to go to a small school on the eastcoast. I want to get into the best school that i can and i am not sure what i want to major in.

thats still not saying much, try an online college search

what do you think about :

Loyola College in Maryland
Bentley
Northeastern
Boston University
Providence
Boston College

GPA: 3.0 SAT MATH 780 Reading 750 Writing 750
I'm taking the SAT's for a second time so the Math and Reading will probably be perfect scores.

^that is a good list. Boston College will be a huge reach. Think about adding more state schools... they will probably react most kindly to your situation.

Bentley is a business school. It does not have a broad-based liberal arts education. If you're not sure what you want to study, remove it from your list.

If you want small, take Boston University and Northeastern off your list.

Go to collegeboard.com and do their college finder. That will give you a good idea of what small schools there are in the areas you want.

Do you have financial constraints? That is a big factor. As for small schools in the NE, check out the lastest issue of USN&WR. There is a list of LACs and regional schools. You don't want to narrow your opportunities because you don't know want you want to do, so specialty schools can be eliminated. As Chedva suggested, Bentley falls in that category, and so does Northeastern to some degree.
Because you have mixed stats, you should pick schools that are matches for B students, as that is the weak chink in your academic armor. You would do well in that mix of schools, and they can be your safeties and strong matches. As you choose more selective schools with higher SAT schools, you will be going into your match/reaches, and reaches. There are a number of schools that will really want that high SAT, but the most selective schools are leery of less than stellar GPAs. Also that B average could be a whole different story if you are in a private school that does not weigh averages, and where the grades are not inflated. At my son's school, solid B students have gotten into colleges with SAT scores that are in the midrange of the schools, particularly the smaller schools that know our highschool, and take the grading scale into account. The smaller catholic colleges would definitely be interested in you--BC and Georgetown (they are not so small anyways) excepted.

Brandeis will be a good one for you. Go to their website and see if you like what they have to offer.

you'll fit in great at MIT, so long as you've done some great math/science work, you'll have a chance.

I don't think MIT would accept a 3.0 gpa, unless you have a good excuse.
