Is that right? Well, all I know about this school is that it was founded on lands that used to be a slave plantation. You can roll your eyes at me, but not at the truth.

while i was mostly refererring to a poster on the first page, i was also referring to your post. i stand corrected.

I think of my seminar/study hall substitute from last year, who went to Clemson I don't know how many years ago. She was really great to be around, and really helpful in well... everything. She helped me do my precal work, and she explained it well and in a non-confusing manner.

So Clemson, in my book = Yay!

If you have high stats, you might consider the National Scholars program at Clemson. Fantastic program! Full ride scholarship and more.
There are probably many colleges built on land that was formerly owned by slaveholders. It was pretty widely practiced. That has absolutely nothing to do with the quality and atmosphere of the school. I know lots of Clemson grads. and they all have nothing but praise for Clemson. They're all super loyal tiger fans. S was also favorably impressed with the size and beauty of the campus and might have gone there if they had offered the program he was looking for.

OP, you should also visit USC-Columbia. We were very impressed on our vist. Their honors program is supposed to be really good and they offer good scholarship money to out-of-staters.

Not many of the descendants of the former slaves attend Clemson. I think the student population is near 90% white.

i think of... the color orange, tigers, paw print, football, and my inability to point out where it is on the south carolina map. but at least i know it's in south carolina (i'm from the west coast :))

Death Valley, kudzu, small southern college town, Flip This House.
