what computer should I get?

I am really in need of a laptop. I'm tired of having to go to a computer lab and transfer my work from a flash drive every single time.

I have no experience with buying computers

But I do know that I want something light, cheap, and with wireless internet... and cheap

P.S. NO MACS

If those are your only criteria:
[Amazon.com Laptop Computers: Up to $100 Gift Card with Purchase of Select ASUS Laptops](http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_85898131_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000444911)
Asus UL20: 12-inch screen, 3.3 lbs, 7.5-hour battery life, 1-year accidental damage warranty, ~$580 + a $75 Amazon gift certificate, so close to $500.

Your school may have deals with companies that let you buy computers cheaper. Check there first.

I agree with Hawkwings. Newegg has great deals as always. Amazon is probably in it’s holiday season sale mood. Bestbuy should be having a few sales. If you just use it for school work and stuff then might as well get a netbook too maybe. They are cheap, VERY portable, and have GREAT battery life. w00t is having a netbook deal right now and it’s a pretty good one, all it needs is an upgrade in terms of it’s RAM from 1GB to maybe 2 1GBs

What are you wanting to do with it? Will you be strictly using the internet and typing papers or are you also wanting to store media (pictures, music, videos)? Do you want to be able to play games? Is your intended major something that will require programs that might require more speed (editing software, CAD programs, etc)?

I’m a chem e major doing minors in com sci and math. So I would need to store Eclipse, download Java JDK, along with my papers.

I’m not going to play any games beyond reversi, full tilt poker, or maybe some 2d flashgames. So I don’t need a very advanced video driver.

yeah, this thread should be under college computers. mod? bueller? …
