We purchased a laptop through HP Academy. It got us an extra $50 off over the price on HP.

Unless you’re in engineering, absolutely any laptop will do. Just seek out a fairly modern laptop with a good price. All non-engineers will be using for class is Microsoft Office and the internet.

@pancaked, could you tell me what engineers would have to use? I’m a prospective ED student and I don’t particularly want to buy a new computer… I contacted Vandy admissions but I haven’t received a response (it’s been about a week)…

Try a quick google search before bothering admissions, they’re really busy with the recently accepted class!!

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

You just need a modern laptop with a decent graphics card really.

I would recommend a professional/business series laptop. All the major manufacturers have them. But if you’re looking to save money, any new mid-range laptop should be fine.

Second the idea that just about any laptop will do. Son is an EE/CS major and his gaming needs far exceed anything required by any class.

If you play any games the graphics requirements will be the primary driver as to what computer to get.

Will a Macbook Pro do?

Macbook Pro is fine. If you are in engineering, you may need to run bootcamp for some software.
