What Consideration to Colleges Put Into This?

I've been wondering about this topic for a while, and thought I would ask the CC Community.

When applying to competitive colleges, how much weight is placed on the High School which you attend?

If a student is excelling at a top boarding school in the country, or excelling at a small arts oriented boarding school, or excelling at a massive public school, how do colleges view this?

Clearly some sort of weight is placed, but how much?
Are students who attend less-competitive high-schools at a disadvantage?
What about schools that do not offer as much variety in course load? Do schools look for high achievement in whatever you are offered, or do they still prefer higher options?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

The evaluation will be based on how well you achieve in the context of your circumstances. Diamonds in the rough are sprinkled throughout “no name” high schools without reputations or perhaps may not even offer many advanced classes.

As the last poster said, it’s about context and more is expected in terms of scores and academic accomplishments of the top private school kid.
