For instance, Dartmouth recommends four years of science, with 3 being lab science. Does Dartmouth require specific high school courses? | Dartmouth Admissions
What exactly counts as a “lab science,” and what is just a science. For instance, is AP CS a science? Is PLTW Principles of CS a science?
Bio, chem, physics.
Not lab sciences. Nor a core science. Both are fine as electives assuming core requirements are met.
I believe at least for NY earth science also counts, since it’s a grad requirement to take it with lab.
I asked specifically about the CS courses because, for GTech, AP CS fulfills their science requirement, so I was wondering if this is common. I guess, in general, it’s not a science.
I did not say CS is not a science; I said it’s not a lab science. GT has a 4 year science requirement, with 2 being lab sciences. Do CS for GA Tech counts for the non-lab science portion.
Other colleges might view it slightly differently.
I doubt it counts for the lab science, but yeah, I see what you mean - it is college-specific. I just wish all colleges gave us what counts as a science and what doesn’t but oh well.
Email them and ask. I emailed Va Tech and asked what counted as a lab science for them and they were very helpful and promptly replied.
