I'm involved in things like Habitat for Humanity, volunteering as a peer tutor, doing research work, playing on the soccer team, and other 'standard' stuff like that, but I wasn't sure where the line would be drawn between an extracurricular activity that you could put down on paper and a fun hobby. For example, I'm an active contributing writer on a fashion blog, and though that takes up a fair bit of my spare
time, I'm not sure if it's something that I could put on an application.

The fashion blog sounds great, and it definitely counts as an extracurricular. ECs are not just school clubs and research and all the other standard embellishments of an application; they’re quite literally just the activities you participate in outside of school.

I think the fashion blog sounds more interesting than the other ECs, which everyone else does. Worth writing your short essay about perhaps? For the admissions committee, it’s always nice to read about someone who is doing something different.

Extra curricular means “outside of school.” So the fashion blog is definitely a legitimate thing. And interesting. If you have a portfolio of entries, you could include that/bring it to interviews etc.
