In other words, in what departments does Duke need more students of?

I should mention that if you're asking about what major to declare, I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a difference for admissions purposes.

I think majors with a high emphasis on practicality have a large number of students at Duke, generally - biology, economics, public policy, etc. Other departments tend to be smaller.

I work at the admissions offices. Just an FYI, if this is what you were trying to do, BDMike was right. Your application/chances of admission are NOT affected in any way, shape, or form by what major you put that you are interested in. Duke isn't like many schools where they admit students to specific departments or try to boost certain departments.

That being said though, I'd have to say the least popular major would probably by "Canadian Studies."

The Wolof program could use some more people, too.

Not to mention Vietnamese or Marxist Studies

These numbers are variable, but you get the basic idea.

Also, keep in mind that on facebook most of the people who put down "Canadian Studies" are joking, and a good majority of the people who put down "Women's Studies" are guys who mean it as a joke...etc.
