what did everybody write for the essays?

Your essay has an interesting idea, but to talk about your own poem and explain your own interpretation of it (which you describe as "profound," no less) just seems kind of self-indulgent in a way. And it seems too direct in general, as if you're writing out some analytical proof of the fact that you have intellectual vitality, rather than making it apparent implicitly. It could have been more eloquently-stated, too.</p>

<p>But on the plus side (and this is a major plus), it shows that you're very deeply engaged in what you do... and on a very intellectual level. I think that's to be admired for sure.</p>

<p>I wrote about being Biracial, my bi-polar brother and my passion for Art History. My "room-mate letter" was very funny and for "Why Stanford?" I focused mainly on its diversity.</p>

<p>I was accepted so I guess they enjoyed them!</p>
