<p>Does receiving an email from Cal tech mean that they like you and would like you to apply, or is it just a pesky ad that doesn't mean anything.</p>
<p>Unless Caltech has radically different marketing than every other school in the country, it doesn't mean that they like you. But it does mean that they would like for you to apply.</p>
<p>I don't have numbers related to Caltech's recruiting efforts, but I do for Harvard's. Harvard sends out 70,000 recruiting letters to students all over the place. This year Harvard had 27,000 applications. Harvard will admit about 2,000 students to fill its entering class of just more than 1,600. </p>
<p>So a recruiting letter means a college would like you to consider that college, and submit an application if you are interested in attending. It is NOT a promise that you will be admitted if you apply. But if you like Caltech, why not apply? Caltech is a great college.</p>
<p>They want yo money. But yeah you should at least look into the school.</p>
<p>It means that you are reasonabally quailified based upon a test score and your self-reporting of grades/intended studies.</p>
<p>Nothing more.
