So I’m taking 5 AP courses next year and I’m thinking that’s very time consuming. But I also play sports year round and am in clubs that take up a lot of time like robotics, math league, model un, and debate. So if it comes down to it, do I drop the an AP course or a sport or a club? Because I know that colleges like applicants to be well-rounded, but also have AP classes, so I’m not sure what to do.
Figure out what is most important to you, and engage in those things and drop something less important to you.
Dropping one AP course won’t kill you. Four AP classes plus getting leadership roles in those clubs would look awesome
Don’t place so much value on being well-rounded; some colleges want interesting applicants. An entire well-rounded class would be rather boring!
Well rounded (depth and breadth) can beat unilateral. It can show kids have varied interests and are able to pursue them. We have no idea what colleges OP will target or what possible major. Robotics, math league, MUN and debate are a nice range for either stem or humanities.
OP, the AP you show on another thread skew toward humanities- is that the possible direction? If you aren’t strong in math, you won’t try for AP calc in sr year? Then keep stats.
What’s the plan?
