I decided to tell my parents and they went with me to pick up the results. Turns out I do have mono, and my dad and I are gonna talk to my counselor and IB coordinator to figure out how I can take the exams. I will most likely be taking it in a different room and have arranged to stay home. I will be out until a day or two before graduation, which sucks but everything worked out well I think. I’m so glad I confided in my parents because I had no idea how intense the situation was, I just didn’t wanna bother my parents or teachers and I was just scared to miss my exams. I really really appreciate all the encouragement on this page so thank you to all of you, because otherwise I would have gotten much more ill and it would have been MUCH worse. Thank you so much again!!
Good job working with your folks and school. I hope no one else at your school gets it and that you recover quickly, fully and uneventfully.
Good outcome. Good luck! Rest and feel better.
- Tell your parents ASAP
- Get diagnosis from your Dr
- With your parents, talk to guidance counselors/IB counselor about what to do
I am sure you will do fine. I’m very glad you didn’t try to gut it out and possibly collapse in the middle of an exam or something! Take care of yourself, let your parents pamper you and feel better soon!
We are so glad you talked to your parents and got the help you deserve. Trying to power through mono only makes it worse and last longer, possibly even into a chronic situation. Please take care of yourself. In a few years this will be a blip. It is hard being out of school before graduating. Feel for you. But this is better than getting mono in the beginning of college, and now you have gotten it over with and are safe from future mono…Good luck!
Also, it is good you got mono now and not during college.
