What do I do if my second letter of recommendation still isn't in yet?

Four of the schools I’m applying to (Cornell, Princeton, Penn, Syracuse) require two teacher recommendations and the rest of the schools allow another recommendation. The teacher who wrote my second letter said multiple times she’d have it done by Tuesday, December 22nd, and I’ve been waiting for it to update on Naviance or Common App that it’s been submitted but nothing has changed.

Last week, I emailed my guidance counselor to ask if he had received the letter yet because I wanted it to be sent to all of my schools, but he still hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I’m worried that if he sends it when school is back in session (January 4th), it will be far too late. Is it still possible for me to submit my application to these schools and have the letter sent after the deadline?

I know most schools allow reccomendations to be sent after the deadline. Some have a specific date they want them to be done by, and some do not. I would email or call the colleges you’re considering just to make sure.

In other words, I have several friends who submitted their applications to schools before the deadline, and their teachers did not do their recommendations until after the deadline.

Thanks, I have a friend who applied to Harvard who’s still waiting for a second rec, and he said supporting documents can be sent after the deadline but I just wanted to make sure.
