What do I do in college to become a Physician Assistant?

I want to become a PA. What courses do I take in college to achieve this goal? I don’t understand what I have to do in college. How do I complete clinical hours? And do I just take the recommended courses? Sorry I don’t know much. First in the family to attend college.

Look up PA schools in your state and see what their requirements are. They will tell you which courses you need to take. One easy way to get clinical hours is to take a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) course and work as a CNA. You can also work as a medical assistant in a doctor’s office.

You could also do nursing for your bachelors and then apply to PA schools. That way, you have a backup in case PA school doesn’t work out, and you take most of the classes that PA schools require; also, the nursing program will help you get clinical hours - and get paid for those clinical hours.

Honestly though, you can do any major and still go to PA school - you just need to make sure you take a couple of pre-req courses…

I did aerospace and mechanical engineering and ended up being accepted to amazing med schools (top 10 programs)…I just scheduled things so that my free electives were actually the pre-reqs for med school.

The same thing goes for PA school.
