So right now I am in an odd situation. Last year I attended a small liberal arts college where I struggled to find a group of friends throughout the year, and ended up withdrawing from the school during the first semester of sophomore year a few months ago. I’ve never struggled with making friends before, so this was a tough thing for me to go through and had bad mental effects on me so I had to withdraw. I applied to several schools for a January transfer and got into my top school as well as some others, but none gave me sufficient financial aid. So now I’m stuck in a situation where I don’t have any credits for my sophomore year yet and it is already halfway over, and I have no place to go for the rest of the year. I did not want to have to take an entire year of classes off but now it looks like this is what I am going to have to do. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do; should I wait and apply this spring to transfer for the fall of next year, and end up having a “gap year”? Should I take classes at a local school in the meantime? Any advice is appreciated.
Is there a community college nearby that you can afford out of pocket? You could take a few general classes.
I’d second the com college.
I’m sorry you struggled to make friends. Unfortunately, transferring for students who need a lot of financial aid is not a realistic option. Is there any way you can go back to your original school and tough it out with counseling?
