What do I need to know for AP Chem?

I took Regents Chem (the basic NYS course) as a soph and now, as a senior, I'm taking a semester of orgo. How much additional material need I master to get a 5 on the Chem exam? Can anyone recommend a good textbook?

Read PR and take practice tests. You're golden after that :)

AP CHEMistry textbooks are generally terrible...good for college chemistry but crappy for ap chem

last year i lived and breathed by princeton review chemistry

Do not think about trying to get a text book unless you want to read about 1000 pages of material; get a review book for this purpose. Besides, it tests inorganic, not organic, chemistry.

Doesn't it test all levels of basic chem - i.e. the rudiments of orgo, inorganic and pchem?

DEFIENTLY NOT....only inorganic chem...there is like a microscopic amount of organic chem on there but only the basic stuff, you either know it or you dont, so dont bother studying organic chem for the AP, you can so easily get a 5 w/o knowing any organic chem

it helps to know at least some basic organic chem, but dont bother memorizing all the functional groups
