I'm coming from a small town where there's not a whole lot to do. I've heard Ann Arbor is an exciting place to live. What makes it exciting? I'm not big on culture and stuff. I'm more of a do-stuff person.

It's exciting because you can do whatever you think of doing.

^^ That was the most vague answer ever. Not helping... I was also wondering about the OP's question. Any takers?

Drink, party, go to games. The usual stuff.

My question is... what do you guys do in your free time?

That's what you could be doing...

Ann Arbor has a lot to offer for a small-mid sized city. There a lot of outdoors activities in and around Ann Arbor and the city has all sorts of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs etc...The campus itself provides students with all the athletic (personal and spectator) and artisitic events imaginable. There are party opportunities both on and off campus. Finally, should one wish to try something new, Chicago is a cheap flight or 5 hour trian ride away and Detroit's suburbs (which have a lot to offer) are less than 45 minutes away by car.

drink !!!!!! dont let anyone tell you other wise

I'm telling you otherwise.

Michigan offers loads of intramural sports / clubs to participate in your free time. Lots of good restaurants / stores in downtown Ann Arbor if shopping is your thing and they got Briarwood Mall about 15-20 minutes off campus. Detroit is a 45 minute drive east and has 4 professional sports teams (sports enthusiast here) that you can go watch if for some reason UM football, basketball, hockey, baseball isn't enough for you. There's at least four movie theaters in the area (Briarwood, State, Quality 16, Showcase) if you want to see a new flick. Plenty to do in Ann Arbor - it's a college town. Loads of bars and a few dance studios downtown as well.

It sounds like you may be starting college in a couple of weeks. Don't worry about the "what to do" thing. You ll find soon enough that there won't be a spare minute and the problem will not be not having something to do, but prioritizing what you want/need to do. btw, class should be prioritized fairly highly.

They eat at Blimpy's...hugest burgers ever.

greasy and juicy :D
