College Life at Michigan

Soooo, current michigan students...what IS the college life like there? What are some of the best clubs to get involved in, the best places to hang on the weekend, ect. Dish!

Clubs: depends what you like to do. There’s a very wide variety of clubs. Check out frat rush.
Weekend: For freshmen, frats are pretty big, you can also hit up some clubs that accept 18+ (Studio, 5th Quarter, etc.). For those who are 21 (or have fakes), bars (Rick’s, Skeeps, Ashley’s, The Blue Lep, etc.) and maybe some club action.

Thanks! anyone else?

What if youll still be 17???

If you want to be a really “active” student on campus (ie planning homecoming, ect) should you join student government? It’s so big at Michigan! I’m confused about which branch I should join.

There are lots of campus activities, too, like umix and different performances and stuff, and of course the sporting events. There is always going to be some student org putting on some kind of a fun event. I went to a lot of movie screenings last year. The Michigan and State Theaters are fun, too. You could really probably sit and list things to do in Ann Arbor all day long, regardless of your age. You’ll have plenty of stuff to do and should have no trouble finding your way to different fun stuff.

Here is our student org catalog:

There is some kind of a survey somewhere which I am sure will be emailed to you sooner or later that will help you find groups that might be a good fit for you, and definitely check out festifall when you get there. But not every org will be at festifall, so still check out the maize pages and keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks fun.
