<p>Assuming you don't know anyone, except perhaps your room-mate, and that you have free time.</p>
<p>Most colleges have a bunch of orientation things going on on the first day, and sometimes even the first week. You normally wouldn't have very much free time during the first few days anyway.</p>
<p>At my school, there was maybe 4 or 5 days of orientation activities with lots of get-to-know-each-other sort of activities. And then classes started the next day. So I was still trying to unpack my stuff the following weekend.</p>
<p>I'm going to throw this out there and I may be way off, but I'm going to guess that most freshman eat something their first day.</p>
<p>And also that they unpack their things.</p>
<p>What answer were you expecting really? That they get wasted/high and go streaking through the campus only to get arrested for the first time in their lives?</p>
