Ok this is my last and final question for current students

I am curious to know what most people typically wear in terms of clothing, mostly concerning guys. Is it more casual like jeans and a t-shirt or is it more common to wear nicer clothes like khakis, sweater, collared shirt or perhaps even just throwing on sweats. Any advice on what to expect or prepare for is much appreciated, Thanks!

And please don’t judge me; im asking the questions that people want to know but can't find.

To class? Casual. Jeans. It varies greatly from person to person though, so you can basically wear whatever you want and nobody will judge. Somebody simply wearing khakis and a button down wouldn’t cause others to look at him funny. Same goes for sweats. Going out to a party? Button down/polo and jeans.

This is not a bad question at all. My son, who is a sophomore, is far better dressed than I remember being at Duke. That means that to parties, he might wear an untucked button down shirt and jeans or khakis. To classes he might wear sweats or athletic shorts and a t shirt and flip flops or khakis and a t shirt and top siders with no socks (if he’s feeling special.) I had to buy him a toga earlier in the year and I saw one picture of him in an old lady’s Christmas sweater. You can really fit in wearing ANYTHING at Duke. You can have a little swag or wear sweats…every goes. When I visit, I also see girls in fancy boots and people in artsy clothes too. When my son pledged a frat, he spent the semester in a lice-ridden jacket from a store that made Good Will look like SAKs 5th Avenue.
