What do people do for fun?

What do Princeton do for fun besides drinking/partying? For example, I know Cornell people do a lot of outdoor stuff because of the enviornment. What about Princeton?

I can't believe nobody answered my question yet

Is this because there is nothing to do besides partying/drinking?

They ride the Dinky.

chill out, there's a million things to do for fun. princeton sits in the middle of the most densely populated state in the country, and an hour away from both new york and philadelphia. whatever you want to do, it's there for you.

Ride The Dinky to get to the fun.........that's the ticket.

the things to do in princeton are pretty equivilant to that in another town. They are slightly less if you don't have a car. Princeton has an expensive shopping district. It has a couple bars, but doesn't have any legit clubs. A lot of restaurants--they're really good. If you have a car you can go to movies (there is a very small, often indie film theater next to campus though) bowling, yadda yadda, HS type activities. You can walk to the trainstation from your dorm and take a train to NYC/philadelphia/america. There is also a bus to NYC that runs through town. The nearest skiing is Mountain Creek, approximately 2 hours away in North Jersey. Nothing special, but it's good if you like park/freestyle.

Ask me about specific amenities and i'll answer ASAP; I know a *#^%load about princeton area/NJ.

Princeton students are involved in all the arts and turn out enthusiastically for one another's performances. On any given weekend there is theater, comedy, a cappella, or dance to either participate in or go to. Students get very cheap tickets to the McCarter Theatre, a professional theater on campus that brings in nationally and internationally known performers and stages its own plays. Various performers go to campus -- Lewis Black, etc. You mention drinking and partying. There is that, but often there is a fun theme -- "Eighties Night," "Gatsby Night," "Casino Night," etc. -- and the students seem to enjoy getting dressed up. There are lawnparties in the fall and houseparties in the spring, each of these huge events that bring the whole campus together. http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2004/09/13/news/10690.shtml Houseparties goes on for three days and includes semiformal and formal dances and outdoor concerts by well-known bands.

Students also go into NYC, of course. The residential colleges offer deeply discounted tix to Broadway shows, Lincoln Center, and sporting events.

McCarter theater is incredible. I've seen wynton marsalis, john faddis, arturo sandoval, and the count basie orchestra all within a few months of each other there.

wu tang clan and jurassic 5 performed recently on campus as well.

In my opinion the eating club scene is slightly "stiff" and "pretentious," but nonetheless still a good time. I just find the scene at cornell more laid back and to my personal liking.
