What exactly is a business man or whatever? Like what do you do after you graduate... is it just business in general? As in you could work for a wide range of companies? I'm not really sure what a business man is. Could someone explain?

Business is a lot of things. In general, it's the generation of an offering to the public in the form of a good or service for profit. A business man will be trained, receive the education, or have a general knack to understand what good or service the public wants, what price they will pay for it, and how to best optimize the process of generating the good or service such that they receive the greatest profit.

There are many avenues that can be taken after receiving an MBA, and the general skills that can be applied to a wide range of companies. Business and market analysis, for two, are general skills that are used in every industry. Analyzing and evaluating market data to help the business develop strategies to approach the market or their own internal operations are continuous function. However, fields like sales, where the skills are transferable, are generally ran by individuals with experience in that field due to contacts and representatives being more personal than business.

Other options include helping companies make investment decisions, directly manage employees to met company goals, assist companies in acquiring or merging with other companies, or just continue with what you were doing but with a greater understanding of why you are doing it.

To the OP:

In addition to the cogent response from Japher, you should also bear in mind that some MBA students won't work for companies, but instead will apply their skills to nonprofit organizations or government agencies, for they too need people who know how to manage and lead.
