What are some factors that really make an impact on whether or not you are accepted to UC Davis?

I am a junior and really want to go to UCD. I am thinking of majoring in international relations.
I know that good grades and high test scores are a must, and I have good grades and decent test scores…but what else would really push me to get in?

(extra curricular activities, sports, or anything special they want to see in their students…)

from the web page:
We thoroughly review all UC Davis applicants' records to rate them on the above criteria. We then determine a score by assigning points for the presence of these criteria and multiplying the points by weights as specified in the Comprehensive Review Selection Process Scoring System table below. We base admission decisions on the ranking of applicants according to these scores and admit the highest-scoring applicants for each college/division based on the available spaces in the specific college/division.

I'm sure it varies from year to year depending on the applicant pool. I don't believe that UCD publishes the point total for admitted students from prior years.

Yes. Four Colleges are:
• Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
• Biological Sciences
• Engineering
• Letters and Science (by division)
The major you choose will place you into a college/division and determine what other applicants you are competing against.

College of Biological Sciences does have an undeclared option for freshman applicants. You will be competing against all other applicants to the College of Biological Sciences. Applying Undeclared -Life Sciences does not help nor does it harm your chances for admissions.

and just to make sure (no offense at all to doctorwho who's very reliable, since he/she's been at Davis), even if i have AP credit, does Davis force u to move up and take upper division courses?

A student is never forced to take courses. They are encouraged to take courses to meet graduation requirements. I believe you mean to ask if AP credits are a duplication of credit, meaning you can not complete the equivalent course for credit. This will depend on your exam score, your college and previous college coursework. Please contact an academic adviser in the area you are interested in for a more definite answer.
