What do you do if two exams are scheduled at the same time?

Sorry if this has already been asked a million times, but I couldn't find my question when I did a quick search.

So anyway, what do you do if two exams you're taking are offered at the same time? I was planning on taking AP Macro and AP World History this year, but they're both offered during the morning session on the same day. I think you can reschedule for another time, right? I can't remember. And if it helps, I am the only student at my school taking either of the exams, perhaps this will allow for some flexibility? (doubtful, considering how strict the CB is on testing times, but thought I'd just ask)

I can take both, right?

Thanks!

Yes, you can reschedule either Microeconomics or World History on another day, but you need to tell that to your AP Exam Coordinator.

Thanks! I thought so, but couldn’t actually remember.

Just so you know I’m pretty sure that you don’t get to decide which test is moved.

that depends on the school

The College Board offers makeup exams to people with exam conflicts. I’m not sure how different the multiple-choice sections are, although I know that my macroeconomics makeup exam had different FRQs than the regular one. Some people say that the makeup exams are harder in difficulty; I don’t think that they are. I got a 5 on the macro makeup without doing that much studying. My exam grade was also available by phone with the others, which shows that the makeup exams are still graded to be available with the regular ones.

The only difference in structure between makeup exams and regular exams is that you are not given an essay planning booklet for your free-response questions. Instead of getting a green booklet with room to plan each essay, you’re given a tan sheet with all of the prompts on one page and no room to plan. This unnerved me a bit since I had no room to sketch graphs before drawing them on the actual free-response booklet. Regardless, this shouldn’t hinder you too much. Good luck!

Thank you, that was very informative! I tend to not use the green booklet to plan anyway (I’m a terribly slow test taker and outlining just wastes my time, esp. outlining an essay since I never use the outline).

In addition to that, I don’t suppose I get to choose which exam gets rescheduled?

All exams are offered as makeups. It was recommended to me that I take the micro makeup because there were probably fifteen times as many kids taking the world exam than were taking the micro exam. Also, micro is a much shorter exam.

I had a friend who had a conflict with AP Bio and AP Music Theory. He took the bio makeup because the music theory exam requires a tape recorder and audio playback devices.

You can probably choose which you want to make up. I’d say do a makeup on world since it’ll give you more time to study; there’s a lot of information in world history.
