What Do You Do When Your School Has Massive Grade Inflation?

I'm in 9th Grade.

I have seen an upward trend in my grades that are very, very unusual.

I know there are some subjects that have really high marks, but they're always been my weak points.

Everyone thinks this grade inflation is good, because it gives them higher GPAs, but I just don't think I deserve these marks.

If your grades have been inflated, so have those of your classmates. That’s why it’s rank that matters to colleges.

but what if your class doesn’t rank? Well, if there was a ranking system, I would know that grade inflation won’t effect me that much.

Some colleges keep records of past applicants to the college. If they see that most of the applicants have abnormally high grades, they may consider your SAT/EC/Awards more than your transcript. Don’t let your grades slip though.

Also, you are a freshman. Keep in mind that there have barely been five weeks of school. The beginning of 9th grade is supposed to be easy. Trust me, it will not always be like this. I would wait to worry about grade inflation until you actually get grades colleges care about; like you easily haven’t even gotten first quarter grades! No need to stress yourself out.

are you serious??? I thought it would be grade inflation. I did not think that it would my easiest time in high school.

Your school will give colleges enough info to know where you rank. Most give grade distribution charts.

wait. Is a mode average of 90/100 really large grade inflation??

The best thing to do to prove you earned your high grades is to score high on your standardized tests.

Ask for lower grades duh??? Haha.

If I was concerned that colleges might suspect grade inflation from my school, I would do this…

Make sure I took a strong college prep curriculum in high school…

AND…

Make sure that I had top scores on my SAT and/or ACT. …That way, colleges would think that grades reflected my intelligence.

:)
