No idea if many feel the same way I do about this, but it always bugs me lol

What do you do when people (friends or not) ask you about what scores you get?

Personally I really hate telling people my scores because some of them will tell others if it's something like a PSAT or ACT practice or just talk about it a lot, and even though I guess I do fairly good I don't really want everyone to know I do well on those sorts of tests.

However, I feel kind of snobby when I don't tell them, since most people will share their scores. I would rather just keep mine to myself.

I agree that it’s annoying even if I do well. I actually feel more snobby telling my scores than not saying anything which is why I prefer to just say “I did pretty good” or something generic like the poster above said. Although I do feel more comfortable telling people I know really well like my own family. The worst is when your friend’s parents ask you because you’re not sure whether it’s more polite to tell them or to give a general answer like I want to.

I usually try to beat around the bush, there’s nothing wrong with not sharing your scores. My friend’s older sister who’s in college sent her a list of “things NOT to do when you get to college” and one of them was: Share your SAT/ACT/HS GPA. NO ONE CARES! so it does get better, and by around November of senior year people are mostly over it, so it’s really spring of junior year that’s the worst for people nagging about test scores.

Personally, I don’t care if my fellow classmates know my test scores unless they’re really bad. I can understand how some people believe it’s rude for people to ask though.

I tell them because it’s usually someone who wants to feel superior who is asking, and my scores are quantitative proof that I can perform on their level!

I generally just tell them. It doesn’t bother me, really. If for some reason it does (which is rare), I just use phrases lime “not as bad as I thought” “pretty good” “got an A/B/C/whatever (just not the percent grade)” etc.

Depends on what the test is. If it’s a small quiz, I’ll usually tell, unless I completely bombed it (or everyone but me bombed it haha). If it’s a major test or the SAT, then I’ll say that I did “alright” or something along those lines. In general, I’m not super secretive about my individual grades (but I make it a rule not to tell people my GPA).

I tell them. I have nothing to hide. People don’t often ask me about my test scores anyway. I havem’t even taken the PSAT or SAT or any of that standardized testing yet so they wouldn’t be asking me.

I don’t mind the concept of people knowing my scores (good or bad) I just don’t like when people make a big deal about it, which always makes me unsure of whether I should tell! For school grades it’s easy to just say, “oh I got an A/B” but that can’t really fly for the ACT, which I know a lot of people will ask about :(
