<p>Wow, every post before hope201’s infuriated me. How can you say the OPs class rank is too low, because if you bothered to calculate it (simple division), you’ll realize he’s in the top 4% of his graduating class. I mean, Penn is a competitive school, but rejecting an applicant because he was in the top 5% of his class is ridiculous. </p>
<p>You’re a great applicant and have an excellent shot at Penn, and having grandparents that graduated from there is also a plus. Be warned though, your legacy at Penn only counts if you apply ED (yes, the school says so themselves), and they accepted 56% of their incoming class in the ED round-- obviously, they value ED candidates. I’m not saying that applying RD will keep keep you down and out, but applying ED will be very advantageous for you. </p>
