What do you guys think?

Will i get into my first choice, University of Delaware? My Dad seems to think my gpa will kill me but I hope he's wrong. Here are my stats...
Gpa-3.36 weighted
Sat- 1830
Math-640
Cr-590
Wr-600
ACT-27
AP Micro/Macro, AP Physics, AP Environmental, English, Calc.
Both my parents went there and I have plenty of EC's/ Varsity sports. Let me know. I can chance you too.

you will easily get in.

I am on the borderline with -
Gpa - 2.98(83)
M - 670
CR - 530

Yea Id say thats borderline, but you never know. It depends on so much more than grades and Sats.

Well all I have for EC’s is soccer but I don’t really have time to do anything else. If you don’t get in then I have no chance.

delawhat, i’d say you’re in also.

My dad just got an email from admissions saying that oos letters will arrive the week of the 21st this year. I’m soo disappointed and I don’t think I can wait till then. The email also said that this year had a record number of applicants and they were only able to accept 1 out of every 9 applicants.

yeah that’s completely ridiculous but at least it’s not gunna be like the very last day. ugh i’m so mad.

1 out of every 9 applicants ? That is impossible.

Re : 1 out of 9 : If about 4000 students enroll every year, and if UDel has an average yield of 30%, that means that 13,333 student would have to be accepted… and accordingly,120,000 students would have had to applied. No way.

ah, thanks for that math  very true!

Delawhat, what was your father doing emailing admissions? Was he doing so as an alumni?

Also I thought someone had posted in another thread that if you are legacy you get treated as in-state, and I thought that would have meant an earlier decision date. Strange.

I’m new to all this…DD senior in HS…are parents not allowed to email admissions?

It is best for the students to communicate with the admissions office as much as possible. I know sometimes it’s difficult, especially if calls need to be made and students aren’t allowed to use cell phone at school, but with sometihing like an email, it should come from the student, not the parent. Admissions offices notice these things.

Yes my dad is a part of the alumni association and those figures were for oos only. UD strongly prefers its in state applicants. The email was sent to those alums with seniors applying this year to let them know that just because their parent went there doesn’t mean they will get in. An that rumor about being considered in state because of a legacy must be false because i applied back in January and still haven’t gotten in.

Or maybe you needed to apply earlier to preferential treatment, like in December.

no, i’m positive that legacies don’t get treated as in-state for admissions decisions
