What do you like and hate about Yale?

<p>I stumbled upon this thread in the Stanford forum and thought that a Yale equivalent of this thread could be beneficial. It gives a different insight into the school than most threads tend to.</p>

<p>'Please give both sides honestly'. :)</p>

<p>What I hate about Yale:</p>

<ol>
<li> That I had to graduate.</li>
<li> That my college friends are dispersed all over the country and world so I don't see them as much as I want to. I especially don't get to see my core residential college group as a group except at reunions. Much as I love them all as individuals, it's magic when we all get together and that happens far too rarely.</li>
<li> Some people that I know from Yale are so ridiculously accomplished and were so soon after graduation that it can be hard to put my own successes in proper perspective.</li>
</ol>

<p>I guess I don't hate the last two things. They're merely negatives. Only #1 do I truly hate. There was nothing I hated while I was an undergrad except the ever encroaching graduation date.</p>

<p>Ditto to what AA said: I think he's actually my clone!</p>

<p>Likes:
1) Great schedule (well thought out vacation schedule, reasonable holiday break, out by May to get headstart on summer)
2) Great schedule (reading period rocks! shopping period rocks! finals done in December (unlike Harvard))
3) Food options are great (get steak at the SOM dining hall!) on campus and off campus
4) proximity to many interesting points in the Northeast (New England, NY State, NYC, Boston, road trips to other schools)
5) Old Campus is a blast (I lived there as a Jr and Sr b/c my college had extra housing there)
6) suite housing: we were the envy of practically all other college students
7) Sunday brunch --- crawl outta bed at 10AM, grab a NYTimes, sit in dining hall and gab w/friends until 1PM, go watch football. What a day!</p>

<p>Dislikes:
1) Feb weather
2) distance to athletic fields was a pain (but not that bad)
3) how stressed people could get near finals -- I'm naturally not a worrier so others being stressed stressed me
4) Thinking about it, it was very melancholy as we neared graduation. We knew a wonderful time was ending and we were rather short with one another at times.</p>
