What do you remember about 8th grade?

I hate everything about 8th grade. My teachers sucked and I didn’t make the grades I wanted. Plus I had to learn about all the subjects I hated. The only good parts of 8th grade were the fun trips (I went to an arcade, a roller coaster park, etc.)

I’m a rising senior, and I was nine years old when this thread was made! (I remember 2-14-2006, too. I wore a red polo shirt because it was Valentine’s Day and my foster mom gave me and the other kids teddy bears that played cheesy old love songs.)

In eighth grade I went to a small private school in a Baptist church. Tuition was $100 a month. I was a closeted atheist the whole time but I played along because my only other option was the public middle school and I didn’t like it much. They taught young-earth creationism and I used to challenge them while pretending I wasn’t.

There were fifteen students of different ages, and we had a strict dress code except for on Fridays, when we could wear jeans. I wore a green polo shirt every Monday and my best friend was obsessed with her pet cat.

We worked out of workbooks and I’d always fall asleep because it was too easy, so they’d keep me after school and make me sweep the floors. The detention slips were bright yellow.

I had a crush on a senior for awhile because he was the only guy there who was older than me, but then he took his baseball cap off and I realized he was ugly.

I liked that school because it was quiet and I didn’t have to do any real work, but it was unaccredited so I went to the public high school for ninth grade. Also, the school closed the year I stopped going there, and I wonder if it was partially because of me. It’s not even a Baptist church anymore. It’s an Apostolic church.

Um… Yearbook, where me and my best friend at the time were the “marketing team” and so just skipped class every day to “put up posters” or “go to the computer lab to edit the order form”.

Introduction to Kpop.

One specific moment of one specific class where my friend was a complete idiot.

That’s about it.

Oh, and my science class. I was part of the corner with the actual smart people who didn’t ask the same questions every day. There were only three of us, then this creepy guy who thought was part of the corner but wasn’t. My teacher had a huge electric nerf gun so he could shoot people with it when they were idiots. He shot it a lot. I can still remember the annoyed feeling I had every day in that class.

Not much to remember except I consider that the worst school year of my life

I had a math ec in 8th grade. I also had the same teacher three classes in a row (math/science/math+science elective). Probably the best teacher I’ve ever had.

I also recall this teacher’s pet. He enjoyed bragging with lies and only talked in memes. It didn’t get him anywhere. In fact, he had the higher gpa, but the teachers chose two other people to be Val and sal.

-Watched the Homecoming parade for the 1st time
-Had only 3 legit friends
-I was in the 8th grade spelling bee
-Went to the Ordway(I think that’s how it’s spelt) for a Spanish field trip
-Went to CHanhassen Dinner Theatre to watch Hairspray. It was amazing!
-The year I was exposed to Kpop
-This one stupid b**** who’s my brother’s age was always creeping on me and so desperate to be my friend again -_-

-It was my 3rd favorite school year (2nd: 9th grade, 1st: 11th grade; I am now a rising senior.).
-It was the only year of middle school I actually liked.
-It was the year I became a science/math nerd.
-I had a crazy, but awesome, Algebra II teacher, although my science teacher was my favorite because she didn’t scare me as much. I also had a pretty bad Spanish I teacher and I didn’t like my English teacher at times.
-Most of the boys I knew were very annoying.
-On my 14th birthday, my Algebra II class “surprised” me (I actually saw someone hiding, but I decided to act surprised to be nice).
-I felt sad after the year (and thus middle school) ended, but I felt better after eating some Extreme Cookies and Cream ice cream.

Oh. Middle school. Memories that I still have but don’t want.

-My school brought back the “teams” system. Basically, you were with the same people all day and had all 7 classes with them. (I was in the Honors/Gifted Class.) Except for math; 12 of us had Advanced Math (Alg IB).
-Intramurals after lunch. I typically when in the Aux. Gym and either rode an exercise bike or played the Wii. (Our middle school gets these random grants to do stupid things but the auditorium is condemned…go figure)
-Being in my first competitive marching band show and having a solo.
-Winning best in show in the Science Fair with a project with inconclusive results.
-Getting contacts
-Being placed on Marimba I in indoor percussion even though I never played Marimba before.
-Student Council Spring Trip to Williamsburg
-One of my best friends telling me she’s moving after this year
-Being a “Library Helper”
-The last year I enjoyed County Band.
-Sleep-away band camp where no one could have cell phones:
-The Christian prayers at meals at that stupid camp.
-That hike up to the practice field.
-The one afternoon off we had.
-Being unable to wait to get to High School
-Thinking it will be a while before my senior year.

I couldn’t stand another year in that horrible place…

My scene/emo phase. Pierce the Veil, Black Veil Brides, ADTR were clearly the best.

Actually thought I like fell in love with my crush, who(m) I still think I like to this day which is really pathetic.

Last year at the private school I had been attending since kindergarten. Bittersweet…

Probably the worst school year of my life. Thankfully it was my last year in a school district I had started to despise. It was the year I started to feel really sorry for myself as I came to realize how poor I was compared to the rest of the school. 8th grade was also the year I had a big falling out with my best friend and ended the year pretty much friendless. I also remember getting my first ipod and listening to music in art class, learning to sew in home ec, reading the pearl (bleh), and the best one…getting punched in the face for being a ginger :stuck_out_tongue:
Glad it’s long gone lol…

Middle School sucked. 8th Grade was not that bad for me though.

Ah, 8th grade…

-Went to a super small private Lutheran school.
-We had a combined 7th and 8th grade of fifteen people (there were eight of us in 8th grade), and one teacher taught most of our subjects.
-Everyone in the class had been going to the school since kindergarten or elementary school so we all knew each other really well.
-The teacher was a badass.
-He tackled one of the kids who was being whiny and wrote “I rule you” on his neck in pen while the pastor watched and laughed (when his mom heard about it, she laughed too).
-Lit class consisted of reading books out loud in class (whatever books the teacher felt like) then watching the movies.
-Hardly having any homework.
-Recess!
-Not caring about grades.
-Being in an advanced math class of 2 people with a really cool teacher I had known for a while.
-Winning the regional MathCounts competition I had worked hard to study for.
-Getting a 30 on the ACT and feeling like a boss.
-Teacher telling me I would get a full ride scholarship to MIT (lol).
-Getting into the only local high school with an IB program.
-Teacher giving everyone sarcastic graduation gifts.

I actually really enjoyed 8th grade… Much more so than the first two years of going to a comparatively huge public school where I knew no one.

I had a boyfriend for 4 days…

-Graduation ceremony
-66 kids in my graduating class
-Honored for Excellence in Social Studies
-Getting 3 Bs
-Taking Geometry at the local high school
-Attending Dances
-Bowling/Ice Skating Field Trips
-Catalina Island Field Trip (5 days)
-Recess
-Finishing all my homework before dinner except for a couple times
-Not studying
-Not noticing test dates
-Not stressed about anything related to academics
-Plenty of free time
-Young Authors
-Liked it better than 7th grade

8th grade was probably my favorite year of middle school. 7th grade would’ve been the worst year of school ever.
-I took 3 classes at the high school
-Pretty much all the freshmen I knew either thought I was really cool or hated me
-I hated everyone in my grade and hung out with the really nerdy guys
-I got to walk with my best friend at the graduation ceremony
-My English teacher hated me despite me doing really well in the class
-This guy used to threaten me all the time, so he got placed in the discipline classes
-One of my “friends” stabbed me in the hand with a plastic fork during lunch
-I got my only C ever in my algebra class because I had the worst teacher ever and also I didn’t think it would effect me, but now I really regret it.
Thing have changed a lot since then.

Haha restarting old threads… Eighth grade was lame for me. And I got a hairline fracture on my wrist from gym class soccer… The highlights were the accomplishments, I guess. Commended for a perfect NJASK score, the type of thing I wish I could put on the college apps. Honors band. Getting to go to Michigan State for a competition called Odyssey of the Mind. Five days, and only a handful of people from my school. Good times. And I had an awesome math teacher.

I’d say the best part was towards the end, because I finally, really got to hang out and become closer friends with some people. Funny it had to happen at the end.

My most memorable part of 8th grade was in gym. My class was so bad that the teachers told us to sit on the bleachers and play on our phones for, I kid you not, 5+ classes in a row. It was great!

Looking forward to High School.
