What do you think about my list? Am I overestimating myself?

yeah but if u look at the ops stats, those schools are in no way safeties. Emory is a solid match while NYU is to a lesser extent.

Btw, are you sure you're allowed to apply ED to Northwestern and still apply EA to the other schools? Check their early decision/action agreements.

Uhhh, don't send your SAT scores, send your ACT score. Oxford College at Emory may be a safety for you - most posters on this forum won't be familiar with that option. Oxford heavily courted students from DD's school with similar stats - the only problem I see are those Cs, I'm not sure how that lower GPA will go over. Discuss this with your counselor.

If you don't like UGA because of size, look at Mercer, Elon or Rhodes in Memphis - what about Furman? I predict you are good for Rice, if those Cs don't prove to be a problem, discuss them with your GC!!

madjoy,
usually students can apply ED and EA to several schools because the deadlines are usually around the same time, but if accepted to ED then they MUST withdraw their EA applications...but if they aren't accepted, they have those EA's to back them up.

taking time to absorb in all the info Hey, thanks for your input! As everyone stated multiple times, Emory and NYU are not my safeties at all. I was just on a bad batch of meth. Sorry for any unintentional offense made.

Cangel, I was naive and uninformed and didn't take the writing portion of ACT (I was blinded by the extra $14), so some colleges won't accept my ACT score! I went to Mercer for state tennis tournaments a few times, and it just wasn't my scene. Elon, on the other hand sounds like a great school. Very appealing.

Madjoy, it is exactly as kcirsh said; I checked with every one of those colleges and made sure it works out. I took Georgetown off my list because I can't EA there if I'm applying ED somewhere. I'm kinda sad about that.

On a more hopeful note, I got in touch with the Notre Dame adcom, and she said she "hope[s] to see [my] application by November 1, 2005!" Maybe she was being nice, maybe not. I guess I'll find out in December.

New list:

Reach:
Northwestern
U of Chicago
Rice

Match:
NYU- not Stern
Emory
Notre Dame

Safe Match:
Elon
UGA

I take back what I just said

How big of a reach is Northwestern for me?
How would ED work out.. (disregarding the financial issue)

Might want to look at Holy Cross-very good Catholic school 1 hour from Boston. HC offers good financial aid and is a smaller version of Notre Dame.
