What sat scores would make an international student get easily admitted to Yale?
No one gets “easily admitted” to Yale (or similarly competitive school. Yale and the like reject perfect stats kids every year. US college admission is truly holistic. Stats and GPA are the just what gets you a second look. ECs, essays, awards, recommendations are super important.
International acceptances are even more difficult to come by and should be regarded as having very slim odds.
To get a serious look, shoot for an SAT score of 1550+ (with fairly even up sub scores).
Yale’s admit rate for international students is in the low single digits…even a 1600 SAT score will not make a international student be ‘easily admitted’.
There are precious few spots for internationals at most of the highly selective US schools. Generally, successful applicants are among the top students from their countries.
Not a single one
That score doesn’t matter as long as it’s 1400+. What matters is what’s exceptional about you, what you have done to make a difference. They may admit only 3-4 students from your country. One will be a minister’s son or daughter; then there’ll be a student from an international school and one student from THE top super famous school in the capital. So, they’ll have a thousand applicants and just one, perhaps two, spots. All will have great grades and great scores. The difference will be made in what you can bring. Sometimes, it’s pure luck. They need a world-class oboe player and you happen to play the oboe in international concert halls. Another year they wanted a trumpet player, so you the international level oboe player are out of luck… etc.
The American system doesn’t work like other countries where one test is the primary determining factor. They will review your whole application. An SAT score above 1530 or so AND perfect grades is a baseline for Yale and similar schools, not a hook.
