What do you think of Drew?

I've recently discovered Drew and I'm curious to learn more about it...unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on this board. However if there are any current/past students, or anyone else that could tell me more about Drew, it would be greatly appreciated. I realize this is a general question, but I'm really interested in anything...students' experiences at Drew, the quality/accessibility(sp?) of the professors, the student body, etc.
any info would be wonderful :)

We just came back from visiting Drew and were very impressed. Beautiful campus, interesting programs. Even a great one for acting! It is one of the few non-bfa programs my daughter is looking at

We are visiting Saturday for their "admitted student day". I hope hear more about some of the programs that they have and my son is interested in learning more about the music area. He's visited twice, but it will my first time to really see the whole campus. It might rain, but I hope to enjoy it even if we are dodging raindrops! Anyone else going?

We'll be there - in the rain :-)

lelaellen,I hope you enjoy it as much as the welcome reception. I wish it was a little later in the morning, but we should be there before the first seminars. Getting 4 people out of the house early on a rainy Saturday morning can be a feat in itself, but I not insurmountable. : )

A P.S. to our visit...we had to turn around after an hour because our "check engine soon" light kept blinking. We didn't want to tempt fate getting stuck in the rain in another state. We will get it checked Monday and hopefully visit on another sunnier day. Any reports from the day there would be nice!

Oh Debruns - so sorry about what happened to your family this morning!

We just returned from Drew's Spring Saturday. We did not stay to the very end (left after lunch) as we had visited on several other occasions and we had a newly adopted dog waiting for us at home (he's not used to us being gone that long yet).

Anyway, it was a dreary cold day on the Drew campus - but it was not raining too hard and the campus is truly lovely! We first went to sign in and were presented with a Drew tote bag, a folder with our lunch passes and some other info. We were also offered complimentary ponchos for the rain.

After a continental breakfast we heard Mary Beth Carey (Dean of Admissions) speak, along with some other people. We then went to the seminar of our choice - in our case, it was pre-health, which was held in a lecture room in the Hall of Sciences, and given by the advisor. We found her to be a little less than prepared for her speach, and felt that it was quite boring - but fortunately, it was not long. After that, we were provided with a quick snack and then parents and students separated. Students spoke with other admitted and current students, parents got to hear speaches and have questions answered about various topics including Student Insurance, Residence life, Safety, Academics and Athletics. I found this to be pretty informative. Dbruns, by the way - we will not decline the additional Student Med. Insurance, which would be in addition to what we have as a family... there are compelling reasons we would not decline it.

After that, we went over to the main cafeteria, met up with our students, ate lunch and heard the new President speak (poor acoustics, however)...

That's about it... all in all it was a nice day - lovely, easy-to-get-around-in campus, very friendly faculty and student body.

Any questions... just ask :-)

Thank you so much for your update, I want to PM you a question, but your post was "almost like being there" and gave me a feel of what it would of been like.
