What Do You Think Of My Chances?

Elon-definitely in
Wake Forest-match
UNC Chapel Hill-high match
NYU-match
UChicago-slight reach, could easily go either either way
Northwestern-same thing ^
Brown-reach

I don’t know about the UK schools, but good luck!

Thanks JNL :)

Your scores look really high! You should have an easy time getting into more of those colleges. There are a couple that I would say might be a bit hard though. First, Brown is an ivy league school. Although, with your scores, it seems like you should have a decent chance at it. Then there’s North Carolina, which, from what I’ve heard, is very hard to get into if your not in-state. As for the rest, you should have a great chance at being accepted. Good luck!

Chance me?

Thanks Arnold :)

Elon University - match
Wake Forest University - match
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - high match
New York University - high match
The University of Chicago - low reach
Northwestern University - low reach
Brown University - reach
Overall your scores are great especially your ACT. Good luck on getting in!

Thank you Public :)

here I’ll give it a shot:
Elon University - in
Wake Forest University - match
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - high match
New York University - high match
The University of Chicago - reach
Northwestern University -reach
Brown University - high reach (for most)

Thanks Ankles :)

Im not familiar with the UK schools so I can’t say anything for them…

But I think the US schools are matches except brown = high reach
UChicago = low reach/match
Elon = low reach/match
Northwestern = same^

Does your school report the actual number grade? Most colleges use their own system to refactor our GPAs. But I’m sure on your transcript it shows they use the 7 point system so you should be okay!!!

Good luck, what’s your first choice btw?

I have no idea on the schools outside of America, but from what I know on the American schools I’d say you will be fine for most of your schools, but University of Chicago and Northwestern will be more difficult, and Brown will be a big reach but cross your fingers there.

Sorry, my reply doesn’t say anything different than the rest of them, but at least you’re getting a consensus

You have three schools on your list that present clear admission challenges to almost anyone: The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Brown University.

People on CC (and perhaps universally) tend to exaggerate the difference in selectivy of getting into the mid/lower ivies vs the other top 12 schools. If you are a highly qualified candidate for U Chicago or Northwestern then you are likley also a very reasonable candidate for Brown. The mid-point SAT scores for freshman at both Northwestern and U of Chicago are higher than those for freshman at Brown. If you have a chance at any one of these three, then you have a fair shot at any of the three.

You likely meet the “academic preparedness” threshold for all three schools. Hopefully your EC’s and essays and recs and all the subjective factors utiitzed will paint a picture of the freshman they need as the adcoms build their freshman classes. Good luck.

CPU: My school only reports letter grade, not actual numbers, which upsets me, because I know if a college recalculated based on their point system, my GPA would be better. Northwestern is my first choice right now. I think I’m in love, but I know its gonna be difficult, so I’m only cautiously hopeful.

Ptable: Thanks  I know I haven’t had a lot of diversity in answers, but I’m happy with a consensus :)

Hinsdale: Thank you for your advice. It was thorough and incredibly helpful  I appreciate it. I hope they like me too ;)

Out of the US colleges (I know nothing about UK colleges): Brown is a high reach, UChicago low reach, NW low reach/high target, the rest are some type of target.

Okay. Thank you Bob :)

Elon University- target
Wake Forest University- target
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill- low reach
New York University- target
The University of Chicago- low reach
Northwestern University- low reach
Brown University (I’m pretty sure I won’t get in here, but it was worth a try).- reach

Thanks for chancing me
For others http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1060886-chance-hopeful-will-chance-back.html

I think you have a pretty good shot at Elon, Wake Forest, UNC, and NYU. Like everyone else has said UChicago and Northwestern are low reaches and Brown is a reach, but it’s an Ivy so you can’t really expect anything. Anyways, best of luck and thanks for chancing me in my thread!

Thanks Violater and LJ :)

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-match! but as people said on my thread, UNC is very unpredictable hahaha.
New York University- match
The University of Chicago-low reach
Northwestern University-reach
Brown University -reach (but it is for everyone, so don’t worry too much!)
